Santa must be Slacking!

It snowed in Memphis last night. A tad more than the blizzard we had last week, if you remember my post on that. Anyhow, this morning when Bryan woke up, he asked why Santa didn't come. I told him Santa already came and Christmas was over. "But it snowed" was his reply. I suppose Santa should come every time it snows. It'd be cheaper than coming every Christmas. Well, in Memphis anyway. :)

...meanwhile on the ride home...

In the truck on the way home from lunch today:

David: I'll never eat sushi again. It was the worst stuff ever. It was like raw fish and cream cheese rolled up in some rice. It took everything in me not to heave it all out.

Me: Ewww...that sounds pretty nasty! Hey! Did you see on Facebook where so-and-so became a fan of Mr. Bean?

David: Yeah...I commented on that, did you not see?

Dylan: Mommy, can I go with you later today to get our new shoes?

Me: We'll see.

Bryan: Daddy, am I allergic to apples?

David: No.

Bryan: Yessssssssss!

Elysa: (probably thinking: "Dear God, please make them all normal.")

(Sigh) Part Deux

I only have one child that makes me do that regularly. I often refer to her shenanigans as the day's "Masterpiece-a-la-Lydia". We have had many of those lately, haven't we? Here's a recap so you will all be on the same page with me. Perhaps when the post is complete we can all have a collective, group sigh.

On my first day with Lydia my third child gave to me: "Mommy I have marker on my foot".
On my second day with Lydia my sweet girl gave to me: Smart gel on the floor, and "Mommy I have marker on my foot".
On the third day with Lydia that handful gave to me: Drawing in the school's book, smart gel on the floor, and "Mommy, I have marker on my foot"
On the fourth day with Lydia that munchkin gave to me: Tubeless papertowel rolls, drawing in the school's book, smart gel on the floor, and "Mommy I have marker on my foot"
On the fifth day with Lydia that cutie gave to me: Hiding in the closet, tubeless papertowel rolls, drawing in the school's book, smart gel on the floor, and "Mommy I have marker on my foot"
On the sixth day with Lydia I'm exhausted as can be: Lipstick from Nanny's purse, Hiding in the closet, tubeless papertowel rolls, drawing in the school's book, smart gel on the floor, and "Mommy I have marker on my foot"
On the seventh day with Lydia I was so late to work: My brush was in her oven, Lipstick from Nanny's purse, Hiding in the closet, tubeless papertowel rolls, drawing in the school's book, smart gel on the floor, and "Mommy I have marker on my foot"
On the eighth day with Lydia I nearly lost my mind: keys in the french fries, My brush was in her oven, Lipstick from Nanny's purse, Hiding in the closet, tubeless papertowel rolls, drawing in the school's book, smart gel on the floor, and "Mommy I have marker on my foot"
Okay, so I'm running out of time and I think you get the point, so fast forward a few days and my sweet girl gave to me: A brand new house that I now have to repaint:

So there you have it. And we can all have our group sigh in 3...2..1... {SIGH!}

Northerners, Try Not to Make Too Much Fun of Us! :)

You see that? Sure you do! It's snowing in Memphis!
Okay, so maybe it was a little hard to see in the previous picture, but by the time we got to the daycare it was an all-out snow storm! (Northerners, please see title of today's post.) :)
And by the time I hit the interstate it was a total blizzard!
And by the time I got to work it was over...SO Memphis!

Lesson from Lydia: Say What You Mean

"Lydia, can you put the diaper on your baby?"

Lovin' Our Days with Daddy

If you didn't know already, we have decided to pull the girls out of daycare until Bryan starts school in the fall. So, today as I was scrolling through the pics in my camera, I noticed that David has been taking some oh-so-cute pics of the girls during the days. Here are a few of my favorites:

The Elite Eight

Dylan had his first basketball game Friday night and his team won. It was a great game--and by great I mean AWESOME! These kids are 5 and 6-year-olds who for the most part have never played basketball before. And they were fabulous! They passed the ball to each other, cheered each other on, rebounded, scrapped for loose balls, kept a good spirit, and just played amazingly! They won the game by 1 point, and it was very, very nail-biting there at the end with the other team calling a time out with only 20 seconds left in the game. Final score 10-9, Ellendale Sharks!

The Elite Eight: Coach Eric with the team after their first 'W' for the season!

Tales from the GodseySix: The Book

If you've got a blog, you need a book. Seriously. This is the neatest thing I have seen in a long time. This website will publish any book you make in any format you choose, and all the software and everything is free. You pay for nothing except the book you create! (And if you decide you don't like the book you created, then you don't pay for anything.) So, now that Christmas is over (and everyone has received their gifts), I can finally show you the masterpiece that I have been working on all year. I am still so excited about it. The kids are gonna love it when they get older (except for maybe Lydia who somehow continues to appear in pictures with her on the toilet--hehe).

This is the cover. The book was 190 pages and hard back.

I wanted to show the inside flaps of the dustjacket.

The spine and back cover. You can custom design the dust jacket however you like. This software is just plain fun!

And here are a few of my favorite pages:

So go now! Create a book! And show me yours when you get it. They make wonderful Christmas presents!!! :)

For Your Reading Pleasure...

...or hers! :0)

It Was a Blue Christmas

In the sense that 6 days before Christmas, Dylan was awarded his blue belt! YAY, Dylan! WE had a lull there for a minute during the 'green belt phase' where he was getting bored with taekwondo and wanted to quit. Now, he's happy to have pushed on with it and we are so proud of him!
He also received 5th place (also known as consolation prize) for Junior Green Belt Student of the Year. (Way to go mommy for submitting 6 votes for your own son! Apparently 4 other mommies were a little more persistent.)

Now we get to see him really grow...as he learns to break boards!!!

The Final 1st Birthday

On Sunday we celebrated Elysa's first birthday. It was the last of my babies' "first birthdays" (Sniff, sniff). But seeing as this day is not at all about me and the mixed emotions that the day held for me, I will now turn the focus over to the birthday baby:

HAPPY 1st BIRTHDAY ELYSA!!! We love you!!!

Christmas Morning Memories

Elysa, happy with her stash: And Lydia checking out Bryan's new SmartCycle (that is now back at the store. Seriously, if you are thinking about getting one, don't take my testimony. Go online and read the reviews. Santa should have known better than to bring a toy that consistently doesn't work.):Bryan digs into his goodies:And Dylan challenges Bryan in a game on his new basketball goals.***In the meantime***
Check out the piles of toys the kids gave to Uncle Thomas to open for them. :)
Memaw tested out the basketball game for herself. Grandmommy and David raced each other on the new Dance Revolution game.David and his mommaLydia insisted on wearing her princess gear (is that what it's called? gear? sounded better than garb.) Anyhow, she went like this all day Christmas day. And, finally, FINALLY, Elysa stood, unsupported, long enough for me to get a picture! She's been doing this for a few weeks now, but never for the camera! I guess it was her Christmas present to me. :)
I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas!
