Just another reason why I love them so much

Not only do they say and do the cutest things (minus all the wall art), but they have lately started working out with me! Some topless, others prefer to work out in their underwear. Hey, I'll take whatever support I can get! :)
And eating my new "diet" recipes. And liking them! What more could a mom ask for???
Dylan sneaking in to finish what was left of the "Southern Hamburger Pie".

And check out a couple of my new recipes. I'm just so excited! As you know, I have never been a big cooker. This is a BIG deal for me!

Mandarin Orange Cake (With Pineapple/Vanilla Cool Whipped icing)
Broccoli and Chicken Bake (And those are Fresh bread crumbs, too!)

Just for fun...

Go here. David and I went out Saturday night, and our sitter for the night (who used to be our "resident" sitter back when we only had Dylan and Bryan) shared a few of her highlights of the night. Wanna really make my day? Leave her a comment so she'll know you stopped by. I (heart) comments, so I'm pretty sure every other blogger does too!

***You know it's sad when you have to direct your readers to someone else's blog to read about your own kiddos. LOL! But I promise to get back in the swing of things soon. Now if I can just find that camera...

Oh, how I was gonna blog tonight. It's been a while and I know I need to. I even took a couple of pics today to bring some life to this post, but well, that's where the problem comes in. My camera seems to have walked away and I've got only one idea as to who might have aided in it's escape. {Sigh} So, I'm headed to bed hoping that tomorrow's search efforts are a little more rewarding. In the meantime, I hope you all have a beautiful, God-filled day!

Sorry for the lack of updates.

We've all reached the point of exhaustion!
"Close-to-daily" posts will resume next week assuming that everyone is feeling better and I can find the time! :) Hope everyone has a safe and fun-filled weekend!

Dual Cleaning Action

Every mom's dream! :)

I knew the day would come. I knew it from the first second that I laid eyes on my sweet baby at 8:06pm on Sept 29, 2002. I knew it would hurt. It's just that things have been going so well at school for him, I somehow thought that perhaps the teasing had somehow passed over us. It didn't. Tonight, my precious Dylan (who has laid on the couch for most of the time he has been awake today with strep for the 2nd time in 2 weeks) told me that his "friend" at school recently told him that he "looked like a monkey because his ears were so big". Who would have thought that a 40-some-odd pound, 7-year-old could rip my heart right out of my chest. Oh, the pain...

Bowling on the River

Fun, fun, fun! We took the kids to the bowling alley today. It was our first ever familty trip to the bowling alley. Dylan went bowling last summer but Bryan, Lydia, and of course Elysa have never been.

It's becoming less funny. Help!

Tonight was Dylan's school's "open house". I still don't totally get the point of open houses at school, but I'm sure most moms and dads are crazy about them. I'm probably the rare exception. Anyhow, with my husband working nights I had totally planned on skipping the sacred "open house" ritual in order to take Dylan to a much needed taekwondo practice. However, he pleaded his case that we had to go tonight because if we didn't his "alien" would be the only one in the class that stayed all night by himself. That's right, his ALIEN. So off we all went to visit school and bring home the alien.
And after several threats and countless bribes, I pleaded with the foursome known as my kiddos to behave like little angels so mommy could put on a happy face and enjoy her time at the open house. I was amazed as we entered the building at Dylan's courtesy as he held the door open for the rest of us and I was in shock as we all walked down the hallway together, holding hands and smiling as we passed others in the hallway. Did they actually listen to me this time???
When we finally made it to Dylan's class, I was able to get a few pics of Dylan and Bryan playing together. They were being so sweet!
And Elysa was just adorable as she grabbed the teacher's pointer and proceeded to "point" at everything in the room with it. Such a little doll!
And right before we left, as I was sweating and stressed to the max, I begged the kids to let me get just one shot of them together. This is what they gave me. Not too bad, not at all.

So, you might be wondering what in the world the title of this post is referring to. Well, let me just say--Imagine her:

doing this:

with a permanent red marker on the teacher's CHALKBOARD. Eeeeek! It's SOOOO not funny anymore!

Sometimes I get excited...

...when I think about Lydia outgrowing her "I'm-so-stubborn, smarter-than-you, artist-of-all- artists, 100%-pure-trouble" phase. This weekend, I saw her take a little bit of toilet paper and put it in her pocket. (She gets this from her nanny, and I think it is, well, disgusting.) But I didn't say anything. And then, a few minutes later, I saw her doing this:

over, and over, and over, and over, and over again. I LOVE IT! What a sweetie! Yes, that's MY Lydia! Being sweet!

First of All:

First thing's first. And there were a lot of those this weekend. Including:

A first haircut:

A first sleepover at the new home:

A first tooth brushing (yes, I am a horrible pet owner. I never knew you were supposed to "brush" your dog's teeth.):

A first playdate with a new friend:

And a first time making a new recipe (Chicken squares. Delicious chicken mixture inside cresent rolls. Everybody liked!)
And to wrap things up, in true Godsey fashion, we have another great Bryanism:

Busy (adj): A state of being where you feel like everything is spinning around you.

Used in exact context: Today as we were at the mall, David and I had all 4 kids on the carousel (reason for no pictures) when Bryan announced to anyone within earshot that he was "getting busy on this carousel."

So, what's been going on lately?

A whole bunch of nothing, really. But since you asked:

Well, recently we've all been feeling kinda icky:
My baby boy is growin' up way too fast! This week he was moved to the "accelerated readers" group in his class.
Lydia, well, Lydia is...eh...consistent. Day in and day out. Here she has helped herself to the sudafed, benadryl, cough syrup, and fritos. If all else fails, fritos can cure your ill. (Please don't notify child protective services. Just learned today that they kinda frown on parents who don't have their medicine cabinets locked.) :)

Oh! And if you didn't know, I've become quite the fan of Craigslist. We recently sold this bad boy on Craigslist and brought in some much needed extra cash. I won't say exactly how much we got, but I'll just say we made more that $124.99! Not to shabby, not to shabby! This little guy has been kinda quiet lately, but he just melts my heart. Don't ya just wanna pinch those cheeks?! (And open those eyes. :) He get those squinty eyes from me, I hear.)I had lunch with several fabulous friends for my birthday! I have pics of some but not others, But all my lunch dates were mahvelous, dahling! On Sunday after my birthday, we celebrated veinte y cinco de enero, which is much like cinco de mayo and cuatro de mayo only on the 25th of January. I'm learning that no matter when you celebrate these mexican holidays, the food and atmosphere are eerily similar.

Everybody loves Kaylie!

And I, being the greatest not-so-great photographer ever, caught some rare National-Geographic-type footage: Lydia. Not tearing anything up. Not being bossy. Not fussing. Just sweet Lydia!

Every Now and Again...

...I like to do little things to show my son how "cool" I still am. Like teaching my son how to make a dunk...
...in my Sunday dress clothes.
Um...yeah...real cool, mom! On second thought, perhaps I should just stay inside and bake cookies for my son & his friends so I won't embarass him too much. :)

Case Closed

Here's a little secret you might not know: 89% of criminals get themselves caught.** Normally by telling on themselves to friends, bragging, or simply by confession. That is how a majority of crimes are solved. Case in point:

On Wednesday of last week, Bryan went to David complaining that someone had stolen all the tires off his truck that he got for Christmas. (Mental report was taken along with photos.)
Our initial person of interest: Do I really have to say her name? I mean really?

On Saturday night, as we were all sitting around the hearth room, our sweet Lydia told us that she was going to cook us all some dinner. And as she opened up her oven and announced, "Who's ready for some donuts" the whole tire theft mystery was solved.

Case # 1045392
The Case of the Mystery Tire Thief
Victim: Bryan Godsey
